Brand positioning & strategy

GIVE PEOPLE
A REASON TO CHOOSE.

Being different is not enough. Your difference needs to matter to the people you want to reach.

We help you define who your brand is for, why people should choose it and what makes that choice credible. Through focused analysis, strategic thinking and collaborative workshops, we turn business ambition into a clear direction for your brand, communication and growth.

01 / START WITH THE CHALLENGE

A strong brand starts
with a clear choice.

Positioning is the place you want to occupy in your audience’s mind relative to the alternatives. It guides what you promise, what you emphasise and what you deliberately leave out.

Sounding like everyone else?

Claims such as quality, service and innovation are easy to repeat. We look for a more specific reason to choose you, grounded in your customer’s needs and what you can actually deliver.

Trying to be everything to everyone?

A broad offer still needs a clear point of view. We identify the audiences and needs to prioritise so the brand can communicate with purpose rather than trying to cover every possibility.

A growing business with an unclear story?

New products, markets or teams can pull the brand in different directions. We help establish a strategic idea that connects the offer while leaving room for the business to develop.

02 / THE WORK WE DO

From broad ambition
to a sharper position.

Strong positioning starts with understanding where your business stands today and where it needs to go. We adapt the process to your ambitions, challenges and available resources.

01 — Ambition & context

We start with why the business exists, what it wants to change and what it needs to be known for. The strategy must serve the next chapter, not simply describe the present.

02 — Market & alternatives

We examine competitors, their messages and the territory they appear to occupy. An empty space is only useful if customers value it and your business can credibly claim it.

03 — Customer & value

We clarify the priority audience, their underlying problem and the functional, economic and emotional value you can bring. Existing customer insight is reviewed before identifying further research needs.

04 — Position & promise

We shape a positioning statement and brand promise that connect audience, need, difference and benefit. The language should be specific enough to guide real decisions.

05 — Personality & verbal identity

We define the brand’s personality, tone of voice and the language it should use or avoid. Naming for companies, products and services, taglines and practical messaging guidelines can be developed as a focused assignment or as part of the wider positioning work.

06 — Testing & translation

We challenge the position for relevance, credibility, differentiation and proof. Then we identify how it should influence messaging, visual identity and the customer experience.

03 / HOW WE THINK ABOUT IT

Three questions
worth answering properly.

01

Who needs you most?

Prioritisation gives the message a focus.

A business may serve several groups, but they do not always choose for the same reason. We identify the most important audience and distinguish shared needs from genuinely different propositions.

02

What can you credibly own?

The promise must connect to the business.

A positioning idea should be backed by the offer, capabilities or experience. If the same statement could sit comfortably on every competitor’s website, it needs more work.

03

What will you choose not to do?

Direction is also a set of boundaries.

Agreeing which claims, behaviours and opportunities do not fit helps the team make consistent decisions. It also makes clear where a future change would require a strategic discussion.

04 / A USEFUL OUTCOME

What you take forward.

We agree the deliverables and review criteria before work begins. The aim is work your business can put to use.

A positioning statement

A concise account of the audience, need, offer, differentiation and customer benefit. It is a strategic tool, not necessarily a public-facing slogan.

A usable brand direction

An agreed promise, personality and set of priorities help guide creative work and reduce subjective debate about what fits the brand.

A foundation for expression

The strategy gives messaging, visual identity, campaigns and website work a common starting point. Those production stages can be scoped as the next assignment.

05 / EXPERIENCE WITH A POINT OF VIEW

A position built to hold.

A positioning statement is easy to write and hard to make true.

We test every claim against what your business can actually deliver, so the direction survives scrutiny from customers, competitors and your own team — not just a first presentation.

06 / PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before we talk.

Is positioning the same as a tagline?

No. A tagline is one possible expression of the brand. Positioning is the underlying choice about the audience, value and difference that the expression should communicate.

Does this include a workshop?

A workshop can be central to the assignment. We agree participants, preparation and outputs around your situation, rather than assuming every business needs the same session.

Can we keep our existing logo?

Yes. Positioning work does not automatically require a new identity. We assess how well the current expression supports the agreed direction before recommending changes.

What do we receive?

The agreed scope defines the documentation. Typical outputs include audience priorities, a positioning statement, a brand promise, personality principles and choices that guide implementation.

LET’S FIND A USEFUL NEXT STEP.

Why should someone
choose your brand?

If that is difficult to answer clearly, it is a useful place to begin. Tell us about your business and the position you want to strengthen.

No polished brief needed. Start with the situation you want to change, and we will discuss where we can help.
