Social-first businesses still need an owned destination

A social profile can introduce your business. An owned website gives interested people a stable place to understand the offer and take the next step.

A social account is often the quickest place to introduce an idea. It provides a familiar publishing tool and an audience that is already there. That convenience does not answer every question a potential customer will eventually ask.

Give the website a specific job

An owned destination does not have to begin as a large site. It can explain a service, establish who the offer is for, answer common questions and provide a reliable way to enquire. The useful starting question is which customer decision your social profile currently struggles to support.

For a specialist service, that might mean explaining scope and process. For a product, it might mean presenting specifications, delivery information and purchasing options. Build around that need instead of adding pages simply because websites usually have them.

Connect the journey

A person should recognise the same business when moving from a profile to a website. Names, contact details and visual identity should agree. The page linked from a post should also relate to that post; repeatedly directing every conversation to a generic opening screen can bury the useful information.

Ownership brings responsibilities too. Someone needs to maintain the domain, update information and check that forms work. A neglected website is not automatically more reassuring than an active social presence. Plan the maintenance alongside the launch.

Keep the relationship portable

Treat social platforms as useful meeting places while developing a destination you can maintain independently. If you invite people to subscribe or contact you, explain the purpose clearly and respect their preferences. The goal is a useful relationship, not collecting details without a plan.

Our web development and social media work can connect those touchpoints. Let’s decide what your website should do first.
